Project Arzhan 1

An Early Iron Age warpick from Arzhan 1, currently at the Tuvan National Museum.

The Foundation supported the Tuva Aldan Maadyr National Museum in Kyzyl throughout 2019 and 2020 in the re-documentation of the archaeological finds made during the excavations of the great Kurgan Arzhan 1. All finds from this site stored in the museum will be documented photographically and some of them will be examined by means of metal analyses and mass spectrometry.

Horse tack is among the most common finds from this important site dating to the 9th century BCE.
